During the first and second sessions the Verkhovna Rada adopted 5 laws pertaining to the competence of the committee:
“On approval of the decision of the President of Ukraine to send national contingent for Ukraine to participate in the UN Operation in Cote d'Ivoire and cross-border operations within inter-mission cooperation between the UN Mission in Liberia and the UN Operation in Cote d'Ivoire”;
“On amendments to several laws of Ukraine re State Special Transport Service”;
"On amendments to article 8 of the Law of Ukraine "On Admission of Other Countries’ Armed Forces to the Territory of Ukraine” (re multinational training);
“On Approval of the Decision of the President of Ukraine on Admission of Other Countries’ Armed Forces to the Territory of Ukraine in 2013 for Participating in Multinational Military Exercises”;
“On amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On approval of the Decree of the President of Ukraine "On sending peacekeeping troops for Ukraine to participate in the international peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia".
The Verkhovna Rada has adopted the Resolution “On Establishing the Ukrainian Peacekeepers’ Day” on the proposal of the Committee.
The Committee has prepared a number of bills for consideration in the second reading.
18 legislative acts were referred for the first reading, of which 7 are recommended to be adopted as a basis; 6 – to be rejected and 4 – to be refined.
Two offsite sessions of the Committee were held.
The Committee has considered and granted a hearing to 13 agenda items in the procedure of control over implementation of the laws, decrees of the Verkhovna Rada and its own decisions.
Meetings of the subcommittees and working groups on elaboration of legislative acts, involving representatives of state authorities, local self-government and its association, scientific and educational institutions, etc. were held in the Committee.
The Committee Chair met with Stefan Fule European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Christof Weil; Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Giorgi Baramidze.
The Committee administration met with the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine Madina Jarbussynova and with the Delegation of the of the People’s Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia, headed by the Chairman of the Committee on Internal Affairs Mahfudz Siddiq.
Personal reception of citizens by the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee was held in the Committee on April 15, 2013. The Committee has considered 347 motions, proposals and complaints of citizens on different issues; scrutinized 1177 documents; sent 550 letters addressed to ministries, departments, NGOs and citizens; and responded to 13 informational inquiries of citizens and public organizations.
